Tell The Truth Thursday! WOW I'm a MOM!

I had plans this Saturday...
Momma was going out on the town with the girls!
Drinks at a friends house and then out dancing!
Yep we were going to get our dance on at some clubs downtown!
My friends still are but I will have to settle for having a dance party here in the living room.... (something we do almost daily at our house anyway!)
You see I am not going with them Saturday because I am a Momma!

Don't get me wrong its not because I am not able to or because as a momma I shouldn't, because if there is a good reason to go out and have a drink or two and unwind with the ladies being a momma is right up there with having a horrible boss, broken down car, dead end job or the ever popular my boyfriend left me....

No I am not going because I decided to spend the money allocated for my night out on the town on a Strawberry Shortcake Berry Bitty Salon....
Yes you read right a Berry Bitty Salon...
Because how can Strawberry Shortcake run her Cafe, or the Berry Bitty Market with out having her hair did... and after she has been driving all day in her Berry Bitty Convertible and swimming in her Berry Bitty Pool she certainly needs a touch up and after all that hard work building her Berry Bitty Club House she definitely needs a manicure!

Does Delaney need another Strawberry Shortcake play set you ask...

Nope she already has all the above mentioned sets (which for some reason only come with Strawberry Shortcake dolls and a million little pieces like cups and flashlights...) and I'm sure she will collect more in the future... No she doesn't need another play set but the smile that lights up her face, brightens her eyes for even that one moment when you say "Yes sugar you can have that one!" the look she gives you at that moment when her life is complete because you just gave her the one thing she was missing for her Berry Bitty Town, well that moment is worth more than any night out, more than any money in the world.

So if the two children with their sleepy heads rested in the next room wasn't reason enough for me to believe that I am a Momma, writing this email to my friends earlier this evening gave me that "wow it's really true I'm a MOM" moment!

"I can't go downtown on Saturday as I have just spent my downtown money on a Strawberry Shortcake Berry Bitty Salon! But the smile on her face was worth 10 trips downtown!"

So I guess a night IN is in store for me on Saturday...

I wonder if there is an appointment available at the Berry Bitty Salon for me and Delaney on Saturday....

Have you ever had that "WOW I'm a parent" moment? I'd love to hear all about it in the comments!

Blacking Out!

Nope not talking about losing conciouness but about blacking out the internet today...
Wikipedia is doing it and so are many other sites and lots of bloggers...
I am so for it!
So much so that I want to chat about it with you today...

Now I'm not the foremost authority on the SOPA/PIPA front and to be honest until today I wasn't exactly sure what it was all about... I knew snippets of the issues and very little about what could happen if this act is passed... But then while checking my Facebook feeds I saw a post from the SITS Girls!

The post contained a link to this site and video!

If you aren't sure what its all about take a minute and watch the video and sign the petition if you can... unfortunately for us Canadians we just have to wait and see what happens and hope that it goes the way it should....

Like the video says
"How far will they take all this?"
"As far as we'll let them!"

Snowflakes

Typically I love snow!

I love the look of a new fallen snow and I love the individuality of each flake...

I hate snow when it has over stayed its welcome, when it gets dirty and grungy from the salt and dirt on the roads and I hate it when it all the snow is melted and you think spring is right around the corner and then you get hit with another storm! But I REALLY hate it when you are out walking and you step off the sidewalk onto the street thinking that you are about to step onto ice and then you are in slushy snow up to your ankles!

YUCK!

But since its still early in the season and since I am still infatuated with the snow I thought I would share with you these beautiful crochet snowflakes!

They are from Lucy over at  Attic24!

I made a whole bunch of these snowflakes over Christmas and they were such a big hit! Not only for gifts but they were big at our house too (meaning I loved them and am in the process of making a bunch for our tree next year.) They take so little time and turn out beautiful every single time! I made them with both white and blue yarns and with different weights as well and honestly they were all amazing! I love the look of them in both the blues and whites and I even did some in shimmer yarn and they were the ones that I gave out to most people because they were just so nice!

Have a look at mine!

Make it Monday! Garlic Twist Bread!

When we had spaghetti for supper when we were kids my mom would always put a bit of butter, garlic salt and cheese on a few slices of bread and pop it in the oven to warm while the sauce cooked... the result a toasty warm cheesy piece of garlic bread to enjoy with your pasta!

I loved it and I have done it in the past as well to kind of feel like a kid again or just to feel like I was still home with mom...

But this past week I wanted to try something a bit different!
I have had garlic twist bread at restaurants and I have seen recipes online and even in cook books and I have always like it of at least the idea of it so while my spaghetti sauce was simmering away I gave it a try!
With my own Momma Made it spin of course!
I made it easy first of all!
I started with a package of pre-mixed Pizza dough... Just add water and away you go! (you could however if you were so inclined make your own dough... )
Then I let it rise a little and when it was ready I rolled it out as you would for a pizza!
I then brushed it with about a tablespoon of melted butter, grated a clove of garlic or two over that and finally grated some parmigiano cheese over it as well!
Then I cut it into strips
Then rolled it over its self!
Popped it into a 350 oven and away we went about 15 minutes later with garlic twist bread as a side!
(they kinda look like ribs.... he-he a good Halloween project/snack too!)

It was simple and easy and Delaney even helped me out with it... and not just the eating part!
I would make this any night to go with pizza or pasta or even salad! And It only takes about 20 minutes prep (including letting it rise) and 15 minutes to bake so really you could even make it on a school night or a work night!
Hope you enjoy it!

Do you have an update to an old recipe that your parents used to make? Or just one that you loved but have put a new spin on? Share a link or two in the comments I'd love to see and try a few new updates to old favorites!
