Photo Friday! One of the Joys of being a Momma!

I love being a Momma for so many reasons!
(too many to share)

But one of the best reasons is because I get to be a kid still again!
Kind of a silly reason... and I might be the only Momma who will openly admit that to the world. I may also be the only Momma in the world who recomends people buy Playdough for her child... and this is why.

Cause it's so darn fun for me too!!

Happy Friday!
Hope you have some fun with your kiddos this weekend too!

Tell The Truth Thursday! Losing my ballance...

Do you ever feel like life is like a tightrope, and while you are slowly making your way from one side to the other your balancing who you are and what you are on your shoulders, on the one side is who you are as a person who you have always been, on the other is all the things you are in life. You know being a daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother and so-on... but sometimes those things you are out weigh the who you are...  don't get me wrong I am all of these things and I love being each and everyone of them. However there are sometimes that being all of that takes away from being me....

I find as I take on more and more in life I feel like I am losing my balance between me and my roles in life. I don't feel like me. It may sound silly but I know exactly who I am and what I am as a person and every now and then I stop and take stock of me... and I feel like parts are missing or slipping.

So after a lengthy introduction my confession is that I need more time for me... and while that maybe strange as a confession, for me its a big one... I am definitely a people pleaser, as much as I don't take crap or put up with silliness (unless its from a certain adorable 3 year old) I want people to like me and I want to make them happy (it gives me a little boost when I do.. its a sickness I swear). It makes me feel guilty even wanting to spend time doing only things for me, it makes me cringe thinking about taking time away from my family to do something by myself.

There does however come a time, I think, that being all of those things you are in life is just not enough. I think that it takes parts of you and if you ignore the fact that you have lost that part for long enough it changes you, and you can't get it back.
So I am trying to make it a point to do things that are just for me, even if its just one hour once a week that I am not taking care of the kids, or my husband. One hour when I am not being a sister or daughter, a friend or even a blogger.

Turns out though that this is hard.... not only the guilt of taking time for me and only me, but what the hell am I going to do with this hour or two?

Do you take a few minutes or hours for yourself each week? I'd love to know what you do with your time maybe I can steal an idea or two...

Kids Room Clock!

This is a project that I have been working on for a few months... in my defense a lot has happened in our family during that time... it seemed like I would start this clock and then something would happen...
So I am very glad that it is finally completed!

I picked up this clock at the Sally Ann back in the spring, knowing I wanted to do exactly this project!
Not so cute hey...

So I turned it into this!
(I thought that I had pictures of this progress but it seems that I just have the before and after... oops. I know I'm a bad bad craft blogger... oh well ha ha)
I started by painting it green it took about 3 coats to cover up that pink...
Then I took my "high tech" circle templates that I used in this project that I did for the kids room and repeated the pattern I used in that project just a little more scattered...

I added the numbers using my "pencil-picture transfer method" that I use frequently like here (in the Winnie the pooh paintings) and here (on the motorcycle coasters).
Basically I printed off some numbers I liked, rubbed the back of the paper with a pencil, placed the number on the clock and traced on to the clock. Then you can paint the number or just fill it in with Sharpie like I did which saves a bit of time and can be more precise if you don't have a steady hand...

So my clock turned out GREAT (if you ask me) and Delaney loves it! What I love is it is a brand new clock for $3 and I am able to say "Hey I did that!"!

Have you made over anything fun lately? Do you make the decor for your kids room? I'd love to hear all about it in the comments!

Make it Monday! All Dressed Brownies!

SO... I love a good brownie but I rarely ever have a package or boxed mix on hand (for some reason I always forget to buy them) and it aint easy to make them from scratch (Ive tried.... lots of times) But I know it can be done as best friend makes them... and they are to die for! so I have been in search for a great brownie recipe and I found it!
Here it is!

This one came from the Hershey website and boy oh boy is it yummy!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 9-inch square baking pan.
  2. Stir together butter, sugar and vanilla in bowl. Add eggs; beat well with spoon. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; gradually add to egg mixture, beating until well blended. Stir in nuts, if desired. Spread batter evenly in prepared pan.
  3. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Prepare CREAMY BROWNIE FROSTING; spread over brownies. Cut into squares. About 16 brownies.
When I made mine I wanted to dress them up (as the title suggests... ) so here is what I did!
I added caramel ice cream topping
and swirled it around with a knife so it would be sweet and have the caramel flavor all through the brownies.

Then I added skor bits, and mini chocolate chips before baking.

Looks yummy just like that if you ask me!
I baked for 20 mins or so and they were perfect still a little bit of a fudge texture but cooked through.
Once baked they looked like this!
Tip: With this recipe watch them for the last few minutes and just when the brownies pull away from the pan a little take them out!
And the finished product!
Supper yummy and certainly hit the brownie spot!

Do you have a go to brownie recipe? Do you dress up your brownies like me? What do you add to yours?  I'd love to hear about it! Leave me a note in the comments!
